Downtown Development Main Street DirectorAdministrationDowntown Development/Main Street DirectorDue to the anticipated 2024 retirement of the Main Street Director who has served approximately 10 years, the City of Lenoir is looking for an individual to be the next Main Street Director for Downtown Lenoir.
Supported by the Mayor, Council, City Manager, City personnel, downtown businesses, property owners and the community, Lenoir is an award-winning Main Street Community since 1984 when it became the twelfth Main Street America Community in NC.
The Director oversees a 20-block district, with a mixture of retail, residential and commercial space.
Lenoir is a City of 18,500 people known for being an area surrounded by history, art, music and industry - working together like gears going about the production of a special place.
Upcoming is the implementation of a recently adopted Master Plan for Downtown that includes improvements to The Campus at the Historic Lenoir High School.
The Lenoir Main Street program produces 15
quality events including the annual North Carolina (NC) Blackberry festival.
The Director oversees one employee and a vast number of volunteers.
The Director also serves as the Executive Director of the Downtown Lenoir Development Alliance, Inc.
(DLDA) and staff liaison to the Lenoir Business Advisory Board.
This position is responsible for planning, organizing and implementing the Main Street program and consulting with local officials, as well as business and community leaders for the purpose of promoting downtown business development through expansion and retention of existing development, and attraction of new business into the City.
Duties include:
Identification of prospective businesses; and maintaining proper records, reports, and public information for the program.
Coordination of downtown board activities, grant development, coordination of Main Street program, downtown events and related tasks.
Serving as executive director of the Downtown Lenoir Development Alliance, Inc.
Assists the DLDA in the planning, coordinating and implementing special events to promote the downtown, including the annual NC Blackberry Festival, a two-day event of blackberries, crafts, food, and live music; and the WOOD.

SMOKE Artisan Festival Development of data, statistics and publications which portray the economic potential of the City.
The activities of this position require considerable planning, detailed problem solving, and timely execution of work.
The successful candidate will display the ability to exercise independent judgment, self-motivation, outstanding organizational skills and strong interpersonal skills to build healthy relationships.
The education and experience requirement are graduation from a four-year college or university with a degree in business, planning, economics, public administration or a related field supplemented by training in economic or downtown development and considerable professional experience in downtown and economic development or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
The pay range is $69,953 to $97,934, with the starting salary depending on experience.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
